Marcy Mary and I thank our friend Lois Eastman for sharing her doxie Christmas carols with you on this week’s blog. Even though these carols are about Christmas, dachshunds come from all backgrounds, and no matter how you spend this time of year, Marcy Mary sends you happy wishes for a wonderful season!
Lois, take it away!
My dachshund Dexter was a short-haired red couch potato with buck teeth! Naturally, he was a bit shy about his teeth and never wanted nor sought the spotlight in life. He was the ripe old age of ten years (seventy in dog years) when the puppy, Mr. Schnitzel, came to live with us.
Mr. Schnitzel was everything Dexter was not: young, rambunctious, super friendly, goofy, and fast! Mr. Schnitzel was a born racer and ran as fast as the wind, chasing balls, squirrels, rabbits—whatever caught his attention at the park. Dexter would watch him and yawn.
Mr. Schnitzel went on to become a Wiener Nationals Grand Champion “Fastest Wiener in the Country” in 2014, and Dexter … well, he just rolled his big brown eyes at his little brother’s success and took it all in stride.
Below are some personalized doxie Christmas carols that I wrote for my beloved wiener dogs a few years back. I hope you enjoy them …

“Santa Paws Is Coming to Town”
You better not beg. You better not hump the leg.
You better not growl, I’m telling you now.
Santa Paws is coming to town.
He’s making a list, checking out who’s barking.
He’s gonna know if you’re pooping on the carpeting.
Santa Paws is coming to town.
He sees you when you’re chewing shoes. He knows when you bite the mailman.
He knows if you steal your brother’s kibble, so you’d better be good if you can!
Oh, you better not beg. You better not jump.
You better not growl, I’m telling you now.
Santa Paws is coming to town!

“Jingle Doxies”
Jingle wieners, jingle wieners, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to walk a wiener dog today.
Dashing down the street with two wieners in tow.
Watering every tree—my, how wieners can go!
Bells on collars ring, making spirits bright.
What fun it is to walk a wiener on a SoCal Christmas night!
Oh, jingle wieners, jingle wieners, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to walk a wiener dog today!

“Doxie Wonderland”
Collar bells ring. Are you listening?
In the lane, trees are glistening.
A beautiful sight. We’re happy tonight,
Walking in a wiener wonderland.
In the meadow we can fill a poop sack.
We can run around and chase a ball.
There’ll be kids to pet us and scratch our backs.
And other dogs to bark at, big and small.
Later on, we’ll be fed, then we’ll rest in our bed.
A beautiful sight, we’re snuggled in tight,
Sleeping in a wiener wonderland.
Great fun! Thnx for sharing!
